Does your Family support you in your home based business? - Part two

Does your Family support you? - Part two
Making a family action plan.

Once you are in the business you may want to have a family action plan with family members who are interested in contributing to the business.
It is key to give family members, roles and responsibilities that they really enjoy doing, and you really have to play on everybody’s strengths, and to use your own strengths to the best of your abilities.
Contributing to the business may involve various aspects; even just staying out of the office while you are working can be a part of contributing.
The importance of having family goals and having family members contributing to the business, is that they help you not to lose track and keep you focused on your activities.
Say if you decide to sit down and watch TV, they could remind you,”hey dad/mum isn’t it tonight you are going to do that e-mail campaign” or “ isn’t it your turn tonight to be on the computer” , they can remind you and to help you keep focused.
If you have kids in the family, sometimes they are more advanced than being on the computer than we are, maybe put them to work doing some work for you, maybe on facebook or better networker.
If you have a really good organiser in the family, they could do your financial planning or keeping the books to contribute,or if they are good at filing maybe just tidying up and help to keep your office in order.
In terms of time management, if everybody understands what you are doing, and how important it is to the future of the family, then it is going to be easier to schedule time.
Especially with families it is important to keep business time separate from family time.
If you make a strict rule when you are doing activities with your family, ie: making dinner, or helping with homework, you are not talking over the top of those activities about your business, and that your full attention is with your spouse or children.
Make sure that you are going to be there and not wondering off making phone calls or thinking about the business, it is just respect to your family that if you have scheduled time for each other that you give your family your full attention.
It is also important that if you and your spouse are working hard on your business not to become workaholics, and you forget the scheduled time that you have for each other.
Make sure you schedule non business time, keep your relationship at the top of your list and your business is second, because what’s the point of having a business if you lose a good relationship over it.
Everybody has this experience that you think you are getting more done, but if you start to get tired from overwork, that’s going to ruin or harm your relationship, and you are not going to as productive.
It can actually do harm to your business.
Don’t lose sight of the big picture of why you are doing the business, your goals and your eventual aims.

To your Success
